Предвиђали су Белгијанцима многе титуле, трофеје, а на крају се све завршило у сузама. Црвени ђаволи нису прошли у осмину финала Светског првенства после ремија са Хрватском и тако је отишла последња шанса да ова златна генерација освоји велико злато.
Може се рећи да је Белгија можда и највеће негативно изненађење досадашњег дела Мундијала у Катару.
